"to help other people at all times" - Rank Required Service Hours Increased this Year

Posted on Feb 25 2016 - 2:35pm

Each Tuesday, Boy Scouts, take an Oath “to help other people at all times".  However some of our early ranks did not include a service component.

Effect Jan. 1, 2016, service hours are now required for Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class.  Scouts in these ranks typically will participate in service organized by others.

Star, Life and Eagle rank requirements already include a service to others component.  Scouts in these ranks begin to organize service opportunities for others to also participate in.

Service hours you intend to use for rank requirements need to be pre-approved by the Scoutmaster.  There are several requirements and safety checks we'll discuss.

If you have any questions, please see the Scoutmaster.

Troop Service Project at FUMC - February 27th Arrive at 7am for breakfast.

Posted on Feb 21 2016 - 7:07pm

The date is Saturday, Feb 27.  As a bonus you can have breakfast from 7:00 to 7:30 am  prior to the Cleanup.  The church Men’s Club will provide breakfast to Scouts and scout leaders/parents who help with the cleanup.  The menu is pancakes, sausage and scrambled eggs.  Breakfast will not be available past 7:30 am. Cleanup time is from 7:30 to 10:00 am.  If we have enough volunteers, I’m fairly certain we can be done by 9:30am.  Scouts can claim the number of hours worked for service hours, whatever you have time to contribute.

The church’s guests, the homeless people, will be boarding a bus at 7:00 am to return to the Cass corridor in Detroit.

We need a count on who plans to help with cleanup and have Breakfast.  PLEASE SIGN UP ON TROOP WEBSITE
