Welcome to Scouts BSA Troop 777 - Programs for both Girls and Boys (Northville, MI)

   

Located in Northville, MI since 1999, we average between 50-80 co-ed Scouts.  

Meeting every Tuesday night during the school year at 7:30 pm (PLC starts at 7:00 pm) in the First United Methodist Church gym on 8 Mile Rd.

We offer traditional Scouts BSA program units for girls and boys ages 10-17 and a co-ed Venturing program for youth 14-20.

Our youth also run advancement assistance programs for area Webelos I and II Den Leaders.

Troop 777 NYLT Scholarship Available - Due May 24th

The Troop 777 Committee has approved one $112 scholarship for the 2016 National Youth Leadership Training program.  This is roughly 1/2 the registration cost. 

National Youth Leadership Training is an exciting, six-day course, action-packed program designed to provide youth members with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home troops and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others.

Scouts aspiring to become Senior Patrol Leader are encouraged to complete this course in the year prior to running.

Interested Scouts should read the attached requirements and submit the below application before the end of patrol meeting on May 24th. 

  • Minimum age 13
  • Minimum First Class Rank
  • Hold a Troop level leadership position (Preferred)
  • Active at meetings and campouts (>60%)
  • Have completed the Introduction to Leadership Skills training
  • Has not attended NYLT or held the SPL position previously
  • Scoutmaster Approval

Bike Shakedowns (Tues and Sun). Permission Slips Due. Drivers Needed

All participants in the Bike Hike must complete Cycling Merit Badge requirements 1 and 2 prior to the campout.  .(others are suggested) 

Tuesday, we will work on requirement 1 below (and 2 if you are not attending Sunday's shakedown)

Sunday, 5pm at D&D bike shop, Matthew Martin has arranged with D&D Bikes to complete #2 below.  Afterward, the group will ride to Ford Field for  pizza.

Senor Patrol Leader Nominations Due May 10th

Candidate nominations (requirements and form attached) for the Summer-term SPL are due to the Scoutmaster for review by May 10th  

Approved candidates will be announced at the conclusion of the May 10th meeting, 

SPL elections will be held on May 24th.

  • Active camper
  • Leadership experience sufficient to run the troop
  • Plan and attend summer camp
  • Plan and attend annual planning meeting
  • Committment to meet minimum participation requirements

Alaska Crew Meeting / Final Payments Due - Thursday 5/5

There will be an important crew meeting at Mr. Tischler's house on Thursday 5/5 at 7 pm. 

Trip cost has been finalized at $1,995.  Please bring your balance due on Tuesday or Thursday so we can purchase your plane ticket.

Council and National Camping Scholarships

There are several camping scholarship available through the Council or National scouting offices  to help every scout attend outdoor adventures.  Please see each scholarship's webpage for registration requirements:

  • Weaver (Popcorn) Scholarship - Due 5/1/16
    • Open to any Scout who is attending a Michigan Crossroads Council camp, regardless of age.
  • 2017 Jamboree - National Campership - Due 9/1/2016
    • Open to scouts registered for the 2017 Jamboree
  • Great Lakes Council  HIGH ADVENTURE & TRAINING Scholarship - Due by 1st of each month

    • Awarded monthly
    • Open to scouts attending a National high adventure base, 2017 Jamboree, or advanced training (such as NYLT)
